Thailand's Smart Business Transformation Programme (SBTP)

With support from government partners such as the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) and other regional partners, the SBTP helps SMEs in Thailand to innovate and transform by implementing digital solutions. Through this programme, SMEs will be able to prioritise their areas of digitalisation, be matched with relevant tech solutions and be guided on tech implementation through workshops and clinic sessions.

UOB Thailand and OSMEP collaborate to ramp up SMEs' digital transformation journey

On 31 August 2021, UOB Thailand worked with one of the government agencies in Thailand, OSMEP (Office of SME Promotion), to organise an “Unboxing Tech” session that was open to all Thai SMEs in response to the rising need to digitally transform their operations during these difficult times. Through the session, the participating Thai SMEs could discover new market opportunities by using digital solutions. They could tap on free trials of the digital solutions, which included notable companies such as Microsoft, Kollective, and Zaviago. This joint effort represents continuing commitment by UOB Thailand and OSMEP to assist Thai SMEs in their digital transformation journeys to achieve sustainable growth.

The drive to survive: How Thai tech solution providers are capitalising on the digital economy

Thailand's digital industry is expected to increase by more than 10% this year, thanks to a thriving digital services sector, according to the Digital Economy Promotion Agency. While the majority of SMEs remain in offline industries, the rate of digital adoption has continued to rise as technology gradually takes over as the main driver of the global economy. Mr Chatchai Khunpitiluck, Senior Executive Vice President of DEPA, encouraged SMEs to use technology in their operations in order to propel Thailand toward a digital economy.

UOB Thailand has organised a series of complimentary virtual training sessions to help more SMEs gain the necessary know-how to adopt online solutions. This is part of SBTP, an initiative by UOB Thailand and The FinLab in collaboration with DEPA, NSTDA and others.
